The Geek Group Vehicular Sciences Lab is a garage unlike anything you've ever seen before. Built in the 2007 season and continually expanding it's a brand new research lab where members and staff can tinker and play with vehicles and related technologies in ways never before made available to the general public.

Imagine a neighborhood guy who likes to work on cars and just leaves the garage door open during the summer. Other neighborhood guys walk by, say hi, and hang out, perhaps learning a thing or two in the process. This is a tradition that has been handed down thousands of times all over America for decades. We're continuing that tradition, only on a larger scale. Anyone who is interested in learning about cars in any manner, from the basics of how they work, how to change your own oil, to something as complicated as how to swap out an entire engine or remove it entirely and replace it with an electric motor is welcome here every day. We have a large garage facility that is open to the world, at no charge, and with no strings.

Though we do ask that if you make a mess, you clean up after yourself.

We've taken the Group concept of self-responsibility, communal education (each one teach one), and teamwork and brought that to the world of automotive tinkering. Just walk in the door, talk to the staff, get to know people, make some new friends, pick up a wrench and let's get to work on something. It's a place to learn, to explore, to get dirty, and share ideas. Everybody has something to learn, and everybody has something to teach. Along the way we make a lot of new friends and have a fun time tinkering.

Blending old-school greasemonkey with high-tech gearheads and the latest in cutting edge technology this is a place to learn and explore everything from vintage hot rods to advanced research projects and alternative fueled vehicles. We have everything from a minibike to a streetsweeper and tons of stuff in between.

Based on the Group's foundations of teamwork, the VSL teams have access to and work in partnership with the other Group labs here at the Heavy Industries facility. This includes the Robotics lab (which provides motors, actuators, and engineering for the VSL), the machine shop, the A/V production studio (where we shoot the still imagery and project videos on each car), and the computer lab (which makes the onboard computers and GPS systems for the Geekmobiles). The possibilities and resources are unparalleled by having all of the various labs working in partnership.

Sponsors:

Since the creation of the Vehicular Sciences Lab we have received a large interest from various automotive related companies for sponsorship. We're always happy to welcome a new supporter of the Group and welcome sponsorship inquiries. If you're interested in having your product showcased in a future Geek Group video or project, please send an email to info@thegeekgroup.org and make sure to put "Sponsorship Inquiry" in the subject line.

We would like to welcome the following new sponsors who have recently become a part of the group's VSL support team.
